What to Expect at Your First Reiki Session in Bellevue, WA

Reiki First Session at Reiki Dome

If you have never tried Reiki, it is natural to wonder what actually happens. Will you need to undress? Will you feel anything? Is it a good fit for you? This guide walks through a first session at Reiki Dome in Bellevue so you can arrive relaxed and know what to expect.

What Is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle, hands-on or hands-near energy practice from Japan. The practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above the body, with the intention of encouraging deep relaxation and a sense of balance. Many people book Reiki to unwind from stress, rest after a demanding season, or take a quiet hour for themselves.

Reiki is a complementary practice. It is not a substitute for medical care, so continue to follow your doctor’s advice and tell your care team about anything you are doing for your wellbeing.

Before You Arrive

Preparing is simple:

  • Wear comfortable, loose clothing. You stay fully clothed throughout.
  • Eat lightly beforehand. A heavy meal can make lying down less comfortable.
  • Bring a few words about what you want. It might be stress, poor sleep, a busy mind, or simply curiosity.
  • Arrive a few minutes early so you can settle in without rushing. Parking and access details are on our Bellevue location page.

What Happens During the Session

1. A short conversation. We begin by talking for a few minutes about how you are feeling and what you would like from the session. This helps me tailor the work to you. If you are curious about a deeper look at your situation, you can also ask about an intuitive reading.

2. Settling in. You remove your shoes and recline on a comfortable massage table. If lying flat is difficult, we can use a recliner or chair. Just tell me about any pain or mobility concerns.

3. The Reiki itself. Soft music plays while I work with light touch or hands just above the body. Most people become very still and relaxed. Some notice warmth, tingling, or heaviness. Others feel very little and simply rest. Either is normal, and there is no right way to experience it.

4. Closing. I let you rest for a moment, and we talk about how you feel. Many people feel calm and light, and some drift into a doze. I may suggest simple breathing or awareness practices you can use at home.

How Many Sessions Do You Need?

There is no single answer. Some people come once to relax and reset. Others schedule regularly, such as monthly, as part of their routine for managing stress. If you would like to see options, visit our pricing page and session packages.

In-Person, At Home, or Remote

If you cannot come to Bellevue, we also offer remote Reiki sessions. If you enjoy group settings, the Reiki Circle near Downtown Bellevue is a relaxed way to try Reiki with others.
